Ask Your Pet

Hi Jennifer,
I rescued my dog Gordon at a shelter. He was my best friend. He passed away on February 20th, 2010. Gordon’s passing was very hard on me and there were times when I didn’t want to go on. Two days after Gordon died he visited me when I was sleeping. It did not feel like a dream at all, it seemed very real. It seemed like he wanted to tell me something, but all I could see was him looking at me, and he placed his paw on my heart and then disappeared. I was hoping you could tell me the meaning of the dream, and if there is anything Gordon would like to tell me.

Dear Lisa
I’m very sorry for your loss, and the pain you went through. I hope this column helps with your healing process. When I connected with Gordon, he first explained to me that he was a gentle soul, and very patient and watchful. He took life as it came, and accepted things without struggle. He was a being of love and compassion. The thing that really made him happy was being allowed to express his love fully and have it returned, and you did that for him. His years with you were the best, most fulfilling years of his life. You understood and accepted him. He was loved!
I asked Gordon about your dream, and he explained that when he placed his paw on you he was sending healing to your heart chakra. Gordon couldn’t stand to see you in so much pain, and came to you as you slept to lift some of that burden. The experience was real; an actual exchange of energy occurred. Gordon described what he did as taking some of the loving Source energy he is surrounded by in the Spirit World and transmitting it to you. When you awakened you probably noticed a lightening of your emotional pain, or experienced a feeling of peace. This was of course partially from having visited with Gordon, but mainly from the healing that took place. Gordon also wants you to see the symbolism of his paw touching your heart. Know that your hearts will always be connected, and the bond of love will always exist between you.
Gordon doesn’t want you to hold onto sadness about him. He said that your life together was about joy, and sadness is the antithesis of that. Focus on the happy memories, and connect to his loving energy whenever you feel the need. He is always there for you! Gordon believes that you were together before this lifetime, and will be together again, as he plans to return to you soon. He says it’s all about love, always has been about love, and always will be.
It was a pleasure speaking to such a wise and remarkable soul! I hope you find comfort in his words and his message that you will be reunited soon.
