November 2012 Eclipses

It’s time to plumb the emotional depths as November brings two eclipses to help you with your inner work. There is a total solar eclipse on November 13th adding to the normal intensity of a Scorpio new moon. Watch the media for news under the path of the eclipse, as it moves from Australia across the South Pacific islands to the edge of Chile. There have been several large earthquakes near Vanuatu leading up to the eclipse.
The benefit of a solar eclipse is that it takes you below the surface of your busy daily life. It helps you look at the shadow side to see if there are subconscious beliefs and behaviors that get in the way of expressing the fullness of your spirit. In Scorpio, you look at old emotional wounds and fears. You receive help in releasing them if you are willing to face them honestly.
The beauty and challenge of Scorpio is that it does a thorough job. In spiritual astrology, it is associated with an energy called the Fourth Ray, represented by the keywords “harmony through conflict.” The universe throws you off center through some life event, and then you find your way back into balance. It is a process that strips your illusions so that you live in your center, in a state of being where you are aligned with your higher self.
The second eclipse of November is the lunar eclipse on the 28th in the signs of Gemini and Sagittarius. Because lunar eclipses are emotional and Gemini is a mental sign, you can expect to review where your head and heart need to work in better harmony. A lunar eclipse pulls you apart to put you back together in a more fully integrated way.
Gemini stimulates you to open your mind to a larger field of possibilities. If you have been stuck in limited thinking, Gemini shows you that there are numerous alternatives. With the sun on the opposite side of the sky in Sagittarius, you are encouraged to take a risk on yourself. Sagittarius is the philosopher that reminds you that life if both fun and an adventure. The archer urges you to expand your view and be willing to live at a larger level.
Invest some time with your inner self during these eclipses. They help you get in touch with deeper, soul-level priorities. As we head towards the beginning of a new Mayan calendar, it will be especially powerful to clear old emotional baggage and open to an expansive set of potentialities.
