Being the Change

by Vaughn Loeffler

It all started with two burning questions;” What is the meaning and purpose of life?” and; “What can I do to bring about positive change in the world?” To find these answers, I began a quest for truth over six years ago, searching for a glimpse of hope for the future. A future based on love instead of fear of light rather than darkness. My seeking finally led me deep into my own Soul and what I found there utterly changed my concept of life and even myself.

Near the end of my search I discovered that all life on Earth is interconnected and inseparable. How so? What is it that unites us all? Although there are hundreds of examples, what I’d like to focus on here is; DNA or Deoxyribonucleic acid as it is known to science. I found that this unfathomably complex life giving substance to be much more than just some programmable microscopic acid. I believe this substance we call DNA could be more accurately described as the vessel in which the thoughts of God manifest into matter. But what is matter? At the basic level all matter is made of atoms which can be reduced further into ‘packets of energy’ called quanta or very simply; light. So here I was looking into the deepest parts of my being and finding that I am, that we are, in our purest form, light.

This information is really nothing new, Einstein understood it and modern physicist continue to research it. But what significance does or should this have for us today? Is there a deeper meaning? To me it means we are all existing here on Earth as individual expressions of the Divine Creative Mind or more simply God. I don’t subscribe to the belief that God created all life on Earth and then just vanished into the Universe. I know now, as my personal truth, that God’s essence in within everyone and everything no matter how hidden it may seem. But how can this be with all the suffering and destruction that has hung over us like a dark cloud for thousands of years. It has been this way because humankind has freewill. From the beginning we have always had the birthright to choose which aspect of our self to serve; the mind or the heart. Over the last several hundred years our collective reliance on the intellect has led to a very sophisticated and convenient way of life in which there has been a number of useful inventions. However, somewhere along the way we temporarily disconnected ourselves from something very valuable; the connection with our Source. So how then can we begin to reestablish our Divine link and produce a brighter place for ourselves and future generations. To answer this we must seek to understand the ‘language of God’.

I have found this way of inspired communication to be none other than Love and Gratitude. To reawaken these eternal qualities of our original design we must rebalance our conscious awareness by incorporating our feeling and emotion into our daily thoughts and actions. Doing this will harmonize the relationship between our heart and our mind and heal the Soul. Here’s a practical exercise that I have found to be beneficial in restoring this internal balance. I wake up at sunrise with one thought in mind; to greet the new day. I walk outside barefoot and stand in the green grass facing East. I then observe the majestic orange sphere floating 149,597,870 kilometers from me and sensing it’s warmth, I say a quiet; “thank you”. There are many physical as well as spiritual benefits of this routine that recharges me for the day ahead. What biologists have now proven is; when the light from the Sun enters the rods and cones of the eyes as well as through the skin, a neuro-chemical process occurs in both the brain and intestine that releases Serotonin, (aka; ”The molecule of happiness”), into the blood and nervous system thereby inducing a sense of wellbeing.

The spiritual effects I have experienced from this early morning solar admiration is an emotional renewing and reverence for life in general. It has been said that; “God is Love” and so I am suggesting that we can tune into the song of creation through these conscious moments of appreciation. There are so many effective ways of connecting with God and ways we can feel united with nature. Simply by listening to the wind moving through the trees or opening a window at night to take in the symphony of crickets, we can hear God’s pure intentions for us. He is saying; breathe the air the plants produce, notice the beautiful complexity of a flower, hear the songs of the doves, feel the gift of life that flows through us and all around us and know it is Divine. In closing, my dream is a simple one; To live long enough that I will witness a global orchestra of unified Human love permeating all life on Earth. Peace to all.
