5 Steps for Writing Your Own Healing Intention

by Dr. Bruce Forciea

Tracy was skeptical of her friend’s advice to attend a “healing” service at her friend’s church. She had tried everything to relieve the excruciating pain in her low back. Even after numerous visits to the medical establishment she was no better off than when she started. She was left with only one medical option. The only thing left to try in her physician’s arsenal was major back surgery. Just the thought of “going under the knife” produced intense fear and anxiety. Tracy had known others who had undergone similar surgeries with negative results. Her doctor even stated there were no guarantees.

Then came the advice of a good friend. One day while at the office her friend simply asked her if she would like to be healed. Tracy was willing to try just about anything at this point and put her skepticism aside. She opened her mind to accompanying her friend to the church for a healing service.

Tracy felt something good upon meeting the pastor of the church. She described him as a warm and honest person. At one point in the service the pastor asked if anyone was in need of healing. Tracy stood up and received the healing. To her astonishment she was able to bend backward and forward. Her pain was gone. She was healed.

Tracy experienced a powerful healing phenomenon known as healing intention. Tracy’s intention began when she made the decision to heal. It became more powerful when Tracy’s intention combined with the intentions of her friend, the pastor and the others in the service. The combined intention ultimately resulted in her healing.

Intention is powerful because it focuses our purpose and moves us in a direction of health and well-being. Intention should be the basis of every healing program. It is simple to do, requires little time and effort and can yield very positive results. Anyone can use healing intention by following a few simple steps.

Focus on the Positive. You must be in a positive state of mind when using intention. It is easy to get caught up in the negative aspects of disease. Pain can cast a dark shadow on your thoughts so it is important to work on focusing on the positive. One way to do this is to imagine what it would be like to be healthy and pain-free. Think of a few words or phrases to describe a pain-free existence. Here are some examples:

I live my life to the fullest and feel at ease.

I am at ease with my existence and feel happy and relaxed.

My body is flexible and fluid.

It is important to use positive statement like these rather than negative statements such as:

I want to get rid of the pain in my life.

I want to relieve my aches and pains.

Negative language gives energy to your problem while positive statements energize your health. Try developing a few positive statements about your health.

Write down your intention. You must bring your intention from the world of thought to the physical world. All actions begin as thoughts and by writing your intention you help to solidify your commitment to heal. A written intention is easy to carry with you, read, and think about often.

Your intention must connect with you on a deep level. Sometimes a good amount of reflection is necessary before writing your intention. Try to get at the core of your problem so that you can develop some deep connecting statements about your health and well-being. Avoid using superficial statements and revise your intention as new ideas come to light.

Hold your intention in consciousness each day. Spend some time each day thinking about your intention. A good time to do this is at the beginning and end of each day. Think about your intention for just a few minutes or longer if you wish. Use centering techniques such as deep breathing or meditation to give your intention greater focus. This is important because we are bombarded with information every waking hour and sometimes have little time to think about our health.

Practice your intention with gratitude. Scientific studies say that people who are grateful live happier, healthier and more fulfilling lives. Gratitude helps you to focus on the positive to be grateful for what you have in the present. You can include a statement about gratitude in your healing intention.

Tracy’s back pain was healed with intention. Her use of intention in the form of prayers under the loving guidance of her pastor helped her to focus her healing. She went on to help her son heal from asthma by using intention and now helps others to heal. She does this with a sense of gratitude for her life. You can use intention to heal as well by following these guidelines and revising your intention as needed.

Healing intention works by focusing your healing and helps you to maintain a positive state of mind. It helps you to make a connection with a powerful healing source of information that exists everywhere around us. We exist in a field that is alive with energy and information. This field sustains all life and healing. We only need to learn to tap into this universal resource to help us along.
