The Signs of Summer

As creative beings, what’s in store for us this Summer? How can we flourish? As usual before each solstice and equinox, I went for an omen walk to see what signs turned up about this particular season.

What I call an “omen walk “ is something we all do in more casual ways: something’s on our mind, we impulsively get in the car and go for a drive, stop at an inviting-looking cafe, and thumb through a magazine that has an article about our very concern. “Seek and ye shall find!” The world about is always willing to communicate.

The energy of this Summer is fiery , intense, and highly creative. Nobody and nothing will stand for oppressive tactics right now, so if you’re being heavy-handed with your own self, or society is being heavy handed with its people, such regimes will collapse under their own weight. Don’t probe personal meltdowns. but stay focused on what you want to create in your life. The direction you look is the way you are going! Work to increase the light in your own life.

A few nights later on the Summer solstice, some interesting women came to my house for a psychic message and healing circle—they were in town for a weeklong memoirist workshop (They thought it was divine! www.thomaslarson.com). At the end we did a group divination about the Summer with my Speaking Stones, and our messages confirmed what we all have to be optimistic about: the power of innovation, creativity, and our growing ability and desire to connect with each other. What is dying in each of us may frequently loom large and take center stage, but it is only what we pass through on the way to fulfilling our dreams.

Out in the World: How to Achieve Peace: The only thing that would work right now is if everybody realized how crazy it was to have nuclear weapons, and the next strategy was a concerted effort of everyone laying down their arms. People have to start dismantling, disarming, now. There’s a big question mark about how to treat somebody: a giant ego (North Korean leader, I assume) is skulking along, and feeling ignored. I would say, ‘oil the squeaking wheel’, whatever that takes. No matter what the strategies are, now the wheel is squeaking pretty loud.

And for individuals on the subject of peace: “’Peace be with you…it is up to those who have it in them to create peace, to do their best to maintain it in their own private worlds. Be at peace within yourself above all.”

Negativity will be on display big-time. As part of their own healing, people are facing their fears and allowing whatever is inside them to be released. Acting less consciously, a lot of people will easily erupt in negative outbursts.
…and now for a wonderful message from the spirit of Summer 2009: “What is new? You are new…every individual is new to themselves in some way. The most precious gift of Summer is the knowledge you gain of your own self and creative ways. Expect things to take off that you put your energy into: everybody can jump higher in the fiery, light energy of Summer 2009.
