Well, the New Year is almost here and many of us are making our New Year’s resolutions. I love to see people making positive changes to improve their lifestyles. The problem is that most people don’t follow-through with their resolutions. Their energy and enthusiasm start out high with the best intentions, but by March, we’re often back to our old ways.
So, how are you going to change a bad habit or poor lifestyle choice and turn it into something that will support your health and well-being? Here are some tips to help you increase your chances of success and help you feel good about yourself in 2011.
First, don’t wait for January 1
to change, start today. Change only really starts when you change your mind — not on some arbitrary day.
Second, have clearly-defined goals. How much weight are you going to lose? How often are you going to exercise? How much money will you save this year? Be as specific and clear as you can.
Third, chunk it down. If you want to gradually quit smoking, how many cigarettes do you have to cut out each day or week to reach your goal date?
Next, have a timeline. Goals without deadlines are nothing more than wishes. Having a deadline will solidify your goals and will help keep you focused.
Finally, get a coach. The finest athletes and greatest musicians realize that they need to study with mentors that can help them break through to higher achievement – YOU are no different. Not only will a great coach formulate a specific plan of action that is custom-made for you, but will also teach you the beliefs and habit patterns of success, so you can grow yourself on the inside, which is really the only way to grow, from the inside-out.
So if you are looking to make real changes in 2011, try these tips. And remember, if improving your health is one of your goals, you should have a chiropractor, a personal trainer, or a nutritionist, massage therapist and others on your personal health team.
