Dashing Through Life

Dashing Through Life
My friend Valerie Becker (Publisher of Inspire News) and I were recently discussing life as we often do……and we were talking about when it ends, and what we did in between. A 21 year old member of her family had recently been in a fatal accident, and she asked me if I had ever heard the poem The Dash, which I had not.
Valerie went on to explain it and that conversation has touched my life forever. The dash is what is between the dates of our life, the year we were born, and the date we die….. the dash is the life we live in between…..and then Valerie asked me the most profound question…… What do you want your dash to stand for?
I have been pondering this question for the last week, thinking about my dash, and when the time comes, I want others to be able to look at my dates and the dash in between be the only thing they remember.
I want my dash to represent life to it’s fullest, to touch others so they understand their dash and it’s meaning is in their complete control…….and that my dash breathes life into those left behind.
What do you want your dash to say about you? You are the writer and creator of the history represented in your dash…… From this moment choose to live life to it’s fullest as you dash through each moment.
