The ever-popular Whole Health Expo is heading into its 26th season. It will be held April 16-17, 2011 at the Clarion Hotel and Conference Center, 1 Atwood Drive, Northampton, MA. There will be over 100 talks & exhibits on the subjects of body, mind, and spirit. They are hoping for an attendance of over 1500 people.
The keynote address "Reflections on the Art of Living and Healing," will be presented by world-renowned author and speaker, Dr. Bernie Siegel. He will discuss the human potential for self-induced healing, mind-body relationships, survival behavior, patient empowerment, parenting, love and health, the role of emotions and health, and collective consciousness. He has touched many lives all over our planet. In 1978, he began talking about patient empowerment and the choice to live fully and die in peace. As a physician, who has cared for and counseled innumerable people who’s mortality has been threatened by an illness, Bernie embraces a philosophy of living and dying that stands at the forefront of the medical ethics and spiritual issues our society grapples with today. He continues to assist in the breaking of new ground in the field of healing and personally struggling to live the message of kindness and love. He is the author several books, including 365 Prescriptions for the Soul.
The keynote address "Unlock Your Erotic Intelligence: Reconciling Domesticity and Desire," is presented by Esther Perel, with her bold new take on intimacy and sex. Probe the ambiguities of love and desire, exploring ways to balance the need for security and closeness with the quest for separateness and passion. Cultivate eroticism and playfulness in your relationship, after kids and post midlife, and put the X back into sex. She is one of the world’s respected voices on erotic intelligence and author of the international best seller, Mating in Captivity, translated in 25 languages. She is an acknowledged authority on sexuality and couples.
The pre-event drumming circle and storytelling, with Native American Healer Michael Redsky, is on Friday night, April 15. He is the owner of a holistic retreat center, grounded in the tradition of Native American healing traditions, and is an internationally known flute singer.
Calling the expo "a family reunion of strangers," Jonathan Podolsky, organizer of the Expo, says, "while there are always some new speakers, exhibitors, and attendees, it’s also a community of people who return each year. It’s like the mythical Brigadoon in the sense that it’s a community that reappears intact at a regular schedule." Podolsky notes that the Expo offers a wonderful opportunity to sample and experience ways to enhance your life, heal your body, expand your mind, and inspire your spirit within community.
Tickets at the door cost $12/day or $18/weekend; $2 less for students and seniors, free for children, free parking. Talks included with general admission; extra charge for workshops and keynotes. Workshops include "Connections" by psychic medium Gary McKinstry, and "Healing with the Rings of Oden" with Aaron and Sue Singleton. Tickets will also be available online.
