Poetry: Garden Cuttings
by Dr. Stewart Bitkoff
Yesterday you were a caterpillar.
Today you are a butterfly.
Tomorrow, what will you become?
A garden is a quiet, restful place;
Where the soul can come forward
And sing the song of creation.
The colors, fragrances, insects, birds, and plants:
All reminders we are children of the universe.
Gardens call deeply to our soul.
The superior gardener works from an inner feeling;
Intuitively knowing what needs to be done.
Having studied, tended and planted for years;
The garden and gardener are One.
The plants, insects, birds and animals,
All part of this work
And come together
With the earth, rain and sun
To form a living system.
Ever changing and developing;
This small universe
Is an extension
Of the gardener’s own inner song.
Like gardens, travelers are linked
Through an interplay of events and factors.
Remember- we are all rare flowers
That has the potential
To open to the sun,
And grace the morning breeze
With a unique perfumed fragrance.
This is particularly true,
As we connect with our higher nature.
Each day is filled
With opportunity and experience.
These are the flowers
God offers us
From the universal garden.
Drink deep this bouquet of sweet aroma.
Enjoy the many colors.
They are God’s Gift to us all.
