Dear Astrology Guy,

What a year 2011 was! It was unsettling in all areas of my life. I’ve been back together with my ex-husband but our relationship has been like a roller coaster ride ... with periods of time that we didn’t even have a connection at all (emotionally or physically.) I have to admit this has been devastating to me. We have been living together now for four and a half years, after being apart for five years. We have two amazing kids, and this is weighing heavy on their hearts as well. We are two different people and basically it is his way or the highway. I am a Cancer, born July 9, 1962 at 6:00 am, in Camden NJ. My ex-husband is a Capricorn, born December 29,1968, at 3:51 pm in Mercer, NJ.

I also have been unsettled in my business life, a double whammy! I know there is need for major change, and maybe this the universe making me do that! I am a Cancer that holds on to things much after their expiration date :)

Beginning in January 2012, your progressed Moon made an opposition aspect to Saturn, a separating aspect bringing cooler emotions, either from you or directed towards you. Sometimes this manifests as physical distance between two people, a symbol of the emotional distance. Another side of this separating aspect could be a strain between you and your Mother or mother figure, and/or some problems or repairs needed at home.

Also in January 2012, the Solar Arc of Saturn made a square, or challenging aspect, to your Mercury, bringing worry, concern, and mental tension. Communication can be harder under this aspect, sometimes with the inability to convey how you feel or even at times to be understood at all.

Both of these aspects will phase out as the year progresses.

Transiting Uranus conjoined your Midheaven, the cusp of your Tenth House, that represents your career, an aspect which should be in full swing by now for you. If you’re looking for a shake up with your career then Uranus will do the job. With Uranus, you can only expect the unexpected. It’s best to accept any changes that come this year with a sense of adventure, otherwise you’ll be subject to the more unsettling and disturbing side to a Uranus transit. Look for creative and new ways to move about in the world, even the opportunity to start a brand new career.

The Solar Arc of the Moon makes a square aspect to Uranus this Spring, felt most intensely May 2012. Here there can be unsettling emotions, sudden changes involving the home, perhaps a residence change. Happening at the same time, transiting Jupiter makes a square aspect to your progressed Ascendant and natal Venus. Most transits occur over the course of perhaps a year, however Jupiter hits just this once in May 2012, so its effects will be more concentrated. Under a Jupiter transit circumstances improve, so you and your ex-husband may reconcile and come to agreement. However, understand that to the universe improved conditions can include the breakup of a relationship if that is what’s called for. Jupiter can only bring growth, so if your relationship breaks up at this point then its what’s best for your soul growth, even if you cant see that right now.

More Jupiter transits occur for you throughout the rest of 2012, a square aspect to Uranus, and a conjunction to Mars in June, and a square aspect to your progressed Sun in July, more freedom inducing aspects. Since Mars is the ruler of your Aries Midheaven, then a change to your career can happen this Summer.

Your progressed Moon makes a square aspect to your progressed Midheaven this Fall, an excellent time to work with the public, especially in advertising, being in tune with what people want, or haven’t figured out they need yet.

All in all, 2012 is going to be a year of growth and change, even if you feel circumstances are disruptive to you. Jupiter and Uranus only bring changes you’re ready for, and what’s best for your soul’s evolution.

I can see why you feel your ex-husband’s attitude is “my way or the highway.” His natal chart lacks any planet or placement in a water sign, revealing a shortage of sensitivity or compassion. However, his Sun in Capricorn is in his Seventh House of Marriage, telling us that ultimately the close personal relationships in his life will be the most important facet of this incarnation for him. Unfortunately, his Venus receives a harsh aspect from Neptune, indicating a general confusion with relationships for him. Also, his Ascendant/Descendant axis receives two harsh aspects, one from Pluto and one from Uranus. What this suggests is that he’s had previous lifetimes of intense, passionate relationships, followed by lifetimes of independence and freedom, a respite from all consuming relationships. What his soul has decided to do in this lifetime is to be confronted by both dynamics, in an effort to achieve balance. His mission, therefore, is to be in a mutually giving and receiving relationship, while still maintaining his sense of individuality - no small task for any of us.

In 2012, he has the opportunity to confront the two dynamics head-on, as both transiting Uranus and Pluto aspects both his Sun and his progressed Venus. There will be severe changes this year for him. He has the opportunity to make sweeping revisions to how he views relationships, and can modify his personality drastically. He is also under Jupiter aspects to his Moon and progressed Moon this year, bringing the chance of an upgrade change of residence, or improvements to his current home. There is a testing to his Marriage House this Fall. If your relationship endures this period, it will be considerably stronger.

Your Saturn squares his Moon, while his Saturn squares your Sun and Ascendant. What this suggests is considerable past life involvement with each other, most likely each as a parent to the other in some lifetimes, and as marriage partners in others, however, without much soul growth for either of you in those lifetimes. This lifetime you therefore have much karma to work out between the two of you.
