Valentine's Day Astrology - A Complicated Mixture
by Mark Dodich
Planetary energies show you how to take advantage of the energy of any given day, so why not use it to help you get the most out of Cupid’s holiday? This year’s Valentine’s Day brings a complicated mixture of competing energies.
The feeling oriented moon will be moving through fiery Aries. Your emotions want hot passion and exciting new experiences. You want a flaming desert at your Valentine’s dinner.
But there is a contradiction going on. Venus, the goddess of love and marriage, is passing through Aquarius most of February. Aquarius just wants to keep it light and “let’s just be friends.” Aquarius wants to share higher ideals and keep an intellectual distance.
Add to that several planets now moving through Pisces, including communications planet Mercury currently slowing down to begin its communications-breakdown retrograde cycle on February 23rd. Pisces wants to blend into her partner so that two become one. Pisces wants the romantic illusions, to get lost in a dream world of grocery store romance novels.
So Valentine’s Day wants hot romance, cool & intellectual distance, and a fantasy fulfilled. That’s quite a lot of ask of a Thursday in February! The key is to be adaptable. Here is how a dinner out might look:
Aries wants to go someplace new, so forget that comfortable restaurant where you know what you will order before you arrive. Aries wears clothing that attracts attention, while Pisces prefers a subtle elegance. Aquarius needs space to open to higher ideals, such as a restaurant with a wide view. Pisces wants a feeling of gentle flow, ranging from a trip to a watery place, or at the very least, a big fish tank. Pisces would like an exotic atmosphere that helps you feel like you are transported to another place or time.
You dinner conversation must paint a picture of a new vision of life, not about getting the kids to soccer practice. Talk in terms of images, like picturing the two of you sitting in a café along the left bank where Bogart and Bergman will always have Paris.
You will have a great Valentine’s Day if you are willing to step out of your norm and blend energies that are not always comfortable together. But isn’t that the nature of life?
