Feng Shui Q & A
Ask the Practitioner
by Aaron Lee Koch
IF 2 PSYCHICS SAID IT, IT MUST BE TRUE!
Dear Practitioner,
I am a 43 year old woman who has had a difficult time when it comes to relationships. In the past 3 months, both a psychic and a tarot reader have told me that I will not marry and that I should learn to be happy in the single life. I am distraught by this and I feel that marriage is what I really want. Must I give up my dream or is there something I can do to keep hope alive?
Lonely Lady, Guttenberg, NJ
Dear Lonely,
Nothing, and I mean NOTHING, is stronger than the power of the human mind. A good psychic, (if you were fortunate enough to find a couple of the relatively few good ones) can do little more than pick up the direction in which you are currently headed, based on your current thinking. The fact that you were told something will happen does not make it so! You can create your own destiny!
Forget about what you have been told! Go out and meet new people! Use powerful Feng Shui symbols to improve your romance luck! A pair of rose quartz mandarin ducks in the southwest sector of your bedroom can really help turn things around – regardless of past history and regardless of what anyone has told you! As an alternative to the mandarin ducks (do not use mallards or other American ducks!), you can display 9 pictures of loving couples in the southwest of your bedroom.
Work on your "inner Feng Shui"! Fill your mind with positive affirmative thoughts about relationships. A few possible examples:
"I have a beautiful loving soul which attracts love like a magnet."
"My life is filled to overflowing with abundant love!"
"I am a wonderful person who deserves love."
"My ideal relationship is close at hand."
"I have so much love to give and I am so open to receiving love."
Repeat the affirmations frequently! Say them silently or out loud, write them down, or do all of the above! For even faster results, say the affirmations while looking into your eyes in a mirror. If the positive thoughts feel odd or uncomfortable at first, that just means that you have touched on an area that needs change. Keep the positivity going and before long your consciousness will change and so will your circumstances!
LIFE IN A SMALL CABIN
Dear Practitioner,
I live alone, along with my 2 dogs, in a one room cabin in a rural part of upstate New York. When I say one room, I mean it. The toilet, shower stall, the only sink, the cook stove, heat stove, refrigerator, TV and bed are all here. The entire cabin measures 18 by 22 feet. I have been here for more than 20 years and I do not wish to live elsewhere. I do not have a lot of money and cannot add rooms onto the house. My ex-girlfriend, who moved here with me, left many years ago and has moved on with her life. I would like to find another good woman, but nobody seems to want to spend time with me after seeing how I live. No question it can be better but it suits me fine. What can I do to make my home more acceptable to members of the opposite sex, short of moving or rebuilding?
Will, Old Forge, NY
Dear Will,
This is a tough one, but you know the old expression, "where there’s a Will, there’s a way!" I strongly recommend one small construction project in your home. Construct a real bathroom with walls. This should include the toilet, shower and a new small sink. There should be a window in the bathroom and the toilet should be positioned such that it is not seen immediately upon opening the bathroom door. You home is 396 sq. feet in area. The bathroom can be as little as 15 to 20 sq. feet.
If at all possible, the small remaining area should be divided into a living area and a separate sleeping area. This can be done by creating a wall using bookcases, a decorative screen, or another type of room divider. To have the best energy, a "bedroom" should be an enclosed and quiet area.
Make sure your bed is comfortably accessible from both sides, representing symbolic openness to a relationship.
Make sure that your dogs have their own sleeping and eating areas. They should not sleep in your bed.
Place a picture or statue of a rooster, peacock or phoenix anywhere in the living room area. (Single men should do this. Single women should use a dragon image.)
Create, in your little home, a balance between masculine and feminine energy. A few details like nice window treatments, an attractive tablecloth, or a throw to cover a worn out armchair, can work wonders without having to spend a lot of money.
