Ask the Astrologer
by Rev. Jeff Pica
Hi Jeff!
I came across your site and spent some time reading. Thank you so much on your helpful answers regarding Yods. I too have a Yod, but one of the fulcrum points is also the kite to my grand trine (one of them anyway). Wha tI’m having difficulty with is understanding how to manage the energies. I feel a tremendous amount of pressure, almost as if I will explode if I don’t express(creative story telling) and yet a life-long repression with self doubt and writer’s block that comes and goes without reason or my ability to fully manage it productively. If you could shed some light on my Yod and how to best manage the energies, I would be forever grateful!
Thank you!
Matthew

Hi Matthew,
Let’s start by explaining what a Yod is to those unfamiliar with more advanced astrology. An uncommon aspect, the Yod, also known as the“Finger of God” aspect, is created when a planet becomes the apex of two other aspecting planets. Planet A and B are in sextile to each and both planets A and B quincunx a third apex planet C, creating a large Y formation across a chart.
People who have a Yod are divinely guided and are here to help and guide others. In such an aspect the guidance you are to give to others is characterized by the qualities of that apex planet and the house it occupies.
In your chart Matthew, Jupiter in the Tenth House sextiles Uranus in the Twelfth House and both quincunx and apex Mercury in the Fifth House.
It’s great news to hear you are in tune with your stars by expressing your creativity through story telling, because an apex Mercury inthe Fifth House of creativity represents your guidance to others is fulfilled mentally, through communication, often through writing, but also as a teacher.Apex Mercury people usually start out life out of tune in the area of communication. The aspects to your Mercury from Jupiter and Uranus show you must unclutter your thought processes and reorganize all scattered loose ends. This will lead you to new ways to communicate in a more thorough way.
Another beneficial aspect in your chart is called a Grand Trine, when three planet’s energies easily combine and work together as a cohesive unit. In a Grand Trine, all three planets have to be in the same element (Fire, Earth, Air, or Water) and within a seven degree orb from each other. In your chart, Jupiter in Cancer in the Tenth House trines Neptune and your Moon in Scorpio in the Second House and all trine Saturn in Pisces in the Sixth House.
I hope that creative writing is both your daily work and your career and that you have been published. Jupiter in the Tenth House of career favors publishing and as part of your Grand Trine, Jupiter in a favorable aspect to Neptune and the Moon, indicates you would do wel in a career in the realms of the imagination, intuition, and unity and a career where you can publicly exercise your great sensitivity towards others.
The best way of synthesizing your Yod and Grand Trine is to simply join them together, symbolizing the extraordinary ability to earn an income (Neptune and Moon in the Second House) from a daily job (Saturn in the Sixth House) that encompasses your vocation (Jupiter in the Tenth House) through your creative writing (Mercury apex in the Fifth House.)
With Uranus in the Twelfth House as another key player, your guidance towards others can manifest in the most unlikely and original ways.Uranus conjunct Pluto has the ability to transform in the most revolutionary, subtle and profound ways.
I used to feel that people like Oprah or Obama, etc. with such a wide sweep of influence were the one’s with Yods in their charts, but I’ve learned that the simple act of sitting with a friend over coffee and listening to your particular slant on an emotional issue is a way of expressing a Yod.
Your self described “life-long repression with self doubt and writer’s block” stems from the difficult opposition in your chart from Saturn in Pisces in the Sixth House to the Uranus/Pluto combination in Virgo in the Twelfth House.
Saturn in Pisces reveals your emotional understanding, humility, and willingness to work hard on behalf of others, especially those less fortunate. Additionally however, Saturn in Pisces also symbolizes your difficulty in leaving the memories of your past behind. You are prone to excessive worry, fretfulness, and regret over past mistakes. Saturn in the Sixth House indicates strong organizational skills. You are hard-working,practical, and exacting ans the opposition makes one also prone to perfectionism and hypochondria. Those with Saturn in the Sixth usually take many pills as part of their daily routine, whether they be prescriptions orvitamins.
Uranus making a close aspect to Pluto represents your insights into the mind, psychology, and motivation. This aspect also reveals a strong, often compelling need to understand your true priorities and desires at an extremely deep level. Your Saturn in a challenging aspect to your Uranus/Pluto combination indicates you may alternate between conventional behavior and then sudden rebellious upsets. You want freedom and excitement, but have a hard time letting go of the past.
The key to overcoming your self doubt is to manage your Saturn opposition to Uranus/Pluto by not seeking perfection, in yourself and others, in learning to be compassionate towards yourself, and from releasing any demons in your past.
I can see the past few years have been turbulent ones for you from transiting Uranus and Pluto effecting your home, relationships, career, and possibly health problems. This past Summer, however, transiting Jupiter conjuncted your natal Jupiter (called a Jupiter Return) bringing a new 12 year period of progress, growth and expansion to your career (Tenth House.)Jupiter will be transiting your Eleventh House starting now, Fall 2014, and continue for most of 2015, so take advantage of any opportunity within groups of people, your friends, and any chance on furthering your hopes, dreams, and wishes. Pay close attention next Summer (July 2015) when Jupiter transits over your natal Neptune and Moon when you can be especially inspired by anything humanitarian, philanthropic, or charitable. It’s also a favorable time for any real estate or home related issue(buying/selling/moving/upgrading.)
I hope this has helped.
Jeff
Matthew’s Response:
OMG! Jeff! You are amazing! I am in AWE that you took the time to be so thorough and to explain this to me. This line: The key to overcoming your self doubt is to manage your Saturn opposition to Uranus/Pluto by not seeking perfection, in yourself and others, in learning to be compassionate towards yourself, and from releasing any demons in your past. It really speaks to me as I have been on this journey for some time. And yes, I have been published! and the rest - OMG - I have to put this on my desktop and reread it a bunch of times as there’s so much to absorb ...
