What is the Christ Consciousness of New Consciousness Teachings?

The term, Christ, is the Greek translation ofthe word, Messiah, meaning “Anointed One.” This comes from the Jewish term, mashiach, a king or High Priest traditionally anointed with holy anointing oil. The Messiah spoken of, in Jewish prophecy of the Old Testament, is described as a long-awaited leader anointed by God, and descended from the Davidic line, who will rule the united tribes of Israel and herald the Messianic Age of global peace.

In Christianity, Jesus was the Christ, the Messiah, the one who was anointed by the Holy Spirit; the Christ being “the Way” and “the gate” to the realms of heaven.

 
In New Consciousness teachings, Christ Consciousness describes this “anointing” as being open to all; it is a level of consciousness achieved through the process of Awakening. It is considered that Jesus demonstrated this path for others to follow - incorporating, integrating, being anointed by the Holy Spirit. As Jesus said, “These things shall ye do and more.”  This level of consciousness is available for everyone to achieve – not just the Messiah of Judeo-Christian teachings. As confirmation of this, he said also, “The kingdom of heaven is within you.”
 
If the terminology doesn’t work for you, choose one that does. This state of consciousness is called many things in many different faiths: enlightenment, awakening, ascension…it is the Bodhisattva of Buddhism, the God-realization of the yogis of Hinduism, the “indwelling Presence” of Judaism, and perhaps many more terms within various belief systems throughout history.

Ascension is described as the raising of one’s vibration to a level that allows for an integration of Higher Self or Soul, leading to an expansion of awareness and the knowing that we are all facets of God - that God consciousness resides within us, and it is not limited to, and does not subscribe to a particular faith. And, though it can be a demanding process, in these times, it is occurring spontaneously, without requirement of the dedicated practices of the past.

This is a planet-wide phenomenon of awakening that began in earnest in the year 2000, and is coming into a full expression at this time. We are seeing the result of the intensity of shifting ideas and shifting levels of consciousness around the planet. All that is not aligned to love is coming up for review, and release, to make room for more love. Have you had great challenges in your life in recent years? It is a process, the unfolding of many steps – sometimes two steps forward and one step back. This shifting is bringing about a New Earth and a new experience that is heart-based. As we move through these changes and this all-encompassing “metamorphosis,” be as gentle as possible with yourself and others. What does enlightenment on a planetary scale look like? We shall see…
