The History of Chakras
Chakras originated before 2,500 BC. Yogis have used the Chakra system for thousands of years as an integral part of holistic healing. The Ancient Egyptians, Chinese, Greeks, Romans, Mayans, Hindus, and Aborigines of many lands used the Chakra system as an integrated part of daily lives. As these ancient civilizations were conquered, vast libraries of knowledge were destroyed, only a few remnants of their information on the Chakra system have survived - either through the preservation of ancient texts by sacred priesthood's, or orally from generation to generation, as in the traditions of many Indigenous people.
What are Chakras?
The word 'Chakra' is derived from a Sanskrit word meaning wheel or spinning wheel or flower. Chakras maintain our physical health and various life issues. They are energies that are associated with your emotions, mind, body, spirit and are centers of psychic awareness along the human spine. Chakras draw in Divine life-force energy from the Universe which is also called ka “ke”, “chi” or “prana”.
Chakras also take in energy from the world around us and distribute it throughout our nerves and organs to sustain our life. Chakras are centers point of the body that holds memories. They stores positive and negative feelings, emotions, and stress associated with all unresolved traumas, woundings and conflicts we have experienced over the course of our life. This is where we store the consequence of any experiences that leaves us feeling happy, loving, grateful, sad, hurt, guilty, angry, unworthy, unloved, etc.
The seven major Chakras of the human body are aligned along the spinal column. Each one is a vortex, etheric in nature that we can feel more then see them. Every thing in the body has Chakras. All your organs have seven Chakras. The seven Chakra system repeats itself in the hands, the feet, the neck, the ribs, the face, and throughout the entire body.
Root Chakra
The root Chakra is located at the base of the spine. The function and purpose of this chakra is grounding, stability, physical needs, security, survival and the material world. This is also the center of manifestation. The red color associate with this chakra is the color of vitality and physical health and is an active and dynamic energy that creates movement, passion and strong will power. On the negative side of this chakra it is anger, aggression, violence, greed, and survival fears.
The root Chakra physically governs the reproductive system, vagina, prostate, adrenal glands, spinal column, tailbone, teeth, bones, legs, and feet. To ignore this Chakra or its elements is to threaten your own survival in your personal lives, if we do not activate this Chakra before we progress to the other Chakras, our growth will be without roots, ungrounded and will lack the stability necessary for longevity.
