Gemini, Polarity & Polarizing Yourself for the Greater Good

The Sun is passing through the sign Gemini until Summer Solstice, and there are a lot of nice things to say about that. Gemini influence helps you to communicate with others, open to new ideas, and to practice mental versatility. It’s a good time to write, take trips, or learn something new. Overall, the sign of the twins normally receives a light and airy interpretation in astrology books.

However, the most ancient writings show a much deeper level of understanding. Occult Greek teachings of Hermes Trismegistus (the thrice great) describe how to use polarities such as those represented by Gemini to step into Mastery.

Two of the stars in the Gemini constellation are twins Castor and Pollux. Castor is associated with horsemen, and Pollux is a boxer associated with thieves. Together, they represent the balance and/or struggle between Light and darkness.

The deeper level understanding as the sun moves through Gemini is that you must resolve internal conflicts between the Light and darkness within you. Because the rest of 2007 is heavily focused on shifting relationship beliefs and behaviors, emotions will be pulling you through extremes. It is important to have a tool to help keep you from swinging wildly like a pendulum.

One such tool is discussed in Hermetic Philosophy, a secret doctrine of occult teachings associated with the Greek philosopher Hermes (known to Egyptians at Thoth). Much of what follows is well explained in the book The Kyballion by Three Initiates (Yogi Publication Society, 1940).

Basic metaphysical principles teach that there is a polarity to everything in the physical world, that everything has a positive and negative pole. For example, poverty consciousness and prosperity consciousness are opposite poles. Through the process of transmutation (energetic alchemy), you can change one pole into the other.

By transmuting thoughts of lack, one can move from fearful thinking into prosperity consciousness. When you reach an extreme pole of prosperity thinking, you can cross into the fear of losing that which you have gained, thus pushing you into the poverty pole (it may be easier to think of the polarity of east and west- when you travel far enough west, it becomes east).

In the month of Gemini, the opportunity is to raise our frequency of vibration from darkness into Light. From the chapter on Causation in The Kyballion:

“But the Masters, knowing the rules of the game, rise above the plane of material life, and placing themselves in touch with the higher powers of their nature, dominate their own moods, characters, qualities, and polarity, as well as the environment surrounding them and thus become Movers in the game, instead of Pawns-Causes instead of Effects.”

There are many methods to accomplish this transmutation of polarity. Gemini energy advises you to take a metaphysical class, or go on a trip out of your little world to see the bigger picture. Spiritual, physical, mental, and emotional cleansing is a valid tool of transmutation.

Calling in an energy called The Violet Flame during meditation helps you transmute the darkness and/or fears associated with your current life environment (see Violet Flame explanation at www.astromark.us). The basic idea given by the Masters is to lift yourself to the positive pole associated with your desires, then to lock yourself in at that level. This means that you must raise your consciousness above the level of the problem you are working with, in other words, go beyond the soap opera.

In summary, there are metaphysical tools available to you to help you with each sign of the zodiac. Putting these tools into practice helps you go beyond the superficial astrological level that you see in mainstream media. However, you must be willing to step into your personal mastery, and that means that you must be willing to go beyond the emotional poles that operate in lower realms of the earth plane. The result is to raise your vibration to a level where you are the master of your life.
