7 Signs of the Approaching Second Coming
by Zinovia Dushkova, Ph.D.
According to the stories of the wise monks dwelling in the remote monasteries of Tibet, the Advent of the Greatest Spirit, something expected in all religions but called by different names, is much closer than we think. As we know from the Bible, Jesus Christ told his disciples that His Second Coming would be heralded by signs, which would help them to recognize that “He is near, right at the door.”
Let us have a look at which of the signs of the approaching Coming of the Messiah, predicted by various beliefs and traditions, we can already observe now.
1. Blossoming of the sacred udumbara flower.
Buddhist scriptures say that this flower blooms only once in 3,000 years and heralds the Advent of Maitreya. The first flower was noticed in 1997 on the statue of Buddha in a temple in Kyungki-Do, South Korea. Since then, it has been seen almost all over the world, especially in recent years: in China, Malaysia, Australia, the United States, and Russia. According to eyewitness reports its Sanskrit name, meaning “an auspicious flower from heaven,” is quite apt, because it suddenly appears and disappears in the same way, filling space with its unusual aroma.
2. Climate change and natural disasters.
Helena Blavatsky’s The Secret Doctrine, published in 1888, predicted that Earth would be subject to a change in climate. She wrote that this would signify the change of evolutionary cycles, a period which is always accompanied by an increase in the number of natural disasters. And during this change of cycles, the World Teacher known to all religions must appear.
In recent times, it has become rather difficult to ignore climate change, because, as NASA has reported, July and August of 2016 were the hottest months ever recorded, and the average temperature on Earth is steadily growing. Meanwhile, according to EM-DAT, the number of natural disasters has increased tenfold in comparison with the 1950s: from 30 in 1955 to 375 in 2015.
3. Acceleration of time.
One saying of the Prophet Muhammad states that the acceleration of time, when “a year will be like a month, and a month will be like a week,” is a harbinger of the approaching Last Judgment, and hence the Second Coming of the Prophet Isa, or Jesus, who will be the Judge. Likewise, in the Bible, Jesus says that the “days shall be shortened” before His Coming.
According to various estimates, despite the fact that days still formally contain 24 hours, a day now actually consists of 16 to 18 hours. Scientists have explained that this phenomenon is caused by the expansion of the Universe.
4. The increasing role of women in all spheres of life.
In the first half of the 20th century, the famous Russian philosopher Helena Roerich predicted that the New Era would be the Era of the Woman, and the Advent would be associated with the extension of the field of women’s activity, with women beginning to properly participate in ruling the world.
Recently, we have all witnessed how women have come to be chosen as Prime Ministers and Presidents for the first time in many countries of the world.
5. The Last Pope.
In 2013, when Pope Francis was elected, the prophecy of St. Malachy about Francis being the last Pope was on everyone’s lips. According to this prophecy, he was destined to serve during the time of the Second Coming of Christ and the Last Judgment.
6. The Jubilee year.
According to Ellen White, a co-organizer of the Seventh-Day Adventist Church, Jesus will come in the year the Jubilee begins. Researchers interpret her prediction to mean that this Jubilee must be a Sabbatical Jubilee, coinciding with the day of purification of the Heavenly Sanctuary, and fall on a Sunday. Their calculations have found only one possible date that meets these criteria — October 22, 2017.
In addition, there is a prophecy by the rabbi Judah ben Samuel of Regensburg, a legendary Jewish mystic of the 12th century, which says that the Messianic era will start after the tenth jubilee year, which ends in the year 2017.
7. The unique arrangement of celestial bodies.
Many researchers, after making astrological calculations based on the Bible, have concluded that Revelation 12:1-2 mentions a unique arrangement of celestial bodies which will happen on September 20-23, 2017, and which will never happen again. They have announced this period as the date of the possible Second Coming of Christ.
American researchers also recorded similar findings indicating the significance of September 2017 in the geometrical structure of the Great Pyramids in Egypt, when celestial bodies will be arranged at an angle to indicate the Second Coming.
Finally, Muhammad said that the Mahdi will emerge in the years 1420–1439 of the Islamic calendar, equivalent to the period of 1999–2017. The Islamic new year of 1439 falls on September 22, 2017 of the Gregorian calendar. Furthermore, Quranic researchers, using a numerological key, discovered that the Quran’s verse concerning the return of Jesus Christ yields the number 1439, which, if taken as denoting an Islamic year, again points to the year 2017.
From these signs and prophecies it follows that we are set to witness the Advent during our lifetimes, while some of them point to a quite specific period — the year 2017.
However, as the sages of Tibet say, the Advent in 2017 or after is possible only if the majority of humanity wants it to happen. If the number of those unwilling, consciously or unconsciously, exceeds the number of the willing, then this Event will not happen. Therefore, all of us who wish to see the Savior need to recognize our responsibility, and make every effort to ensure His Advent will indeed take place.
