Ask the Astrology guy
by Reverend Jeff Pica
Dear AstrologyGuy,
I'm writing you because I need help to better understand my birth chart, to be able to cope with the emptiness I'm feeling over the past years in my life. I was never interested in Astrology but in 2015 someone broke my heart real bad and in search of healing myself from the heartache, in some way, my interest in Astrology woke me up.
Reading my Moon North Node sign in Aries North changed me a lot, my point of view through life, and I have been more self conscious. I am determined to achieve the balance of my Moon's North and South Nodes but I still feel lost. I have North Node in Aries which says "me first " and "be self dependent" but it's in the 7th house which signifies interdependence and cooperating with others. It's confusing me.
My name is Monica. Birth date June 23 1986 at 12:04 pm. Born in Angeles City, Philippines.
Really much appreciated for the help. Thank you in advance.
Hi Monica,
I can understand how the dichotomy of your Moon's Nodes would be confusing. Yes, Aries North Node does say to be independent, and the North Node being in the Seventh House does mean there needs to be a "significant other" in your life. The Nodes represent life direction in an extremely broad way. For you, your greatest opportunity for soul growth in this lifetime is to learn how to be in a relationship while keeping your own identity. In other words, for example, instead of going through life being known as "Mrs. John Smith," you'd want to be known as "Phoebe Jones-Smith."
To understand the Nodes you also need to look at any aspects to them. Since your North Node is only a few degrees away from your Eighth House, that house will feel the North Node's influence. In a similar way, your South Node is influencing your Second House, and additionally making a close aspect to the planet Pluto. In general, yours and "other people's" money is a life theme for you. I feel that in your immediate past life, someone else, most likely your husband, controlled the money in your relationship. Perhaps it might be important for you to earn your own money in this lifetime, which also happens to be an example of exerting one's independence within a relationship.
What's interesting about your Nodes is that they basically have the same meaning, creating a pattern. Aries North Node in the Seventh House means "to keep your own identity when in relationship," as Libra South Node in the First House means "when in relationship, keep your own identity." The nodes are a great insight into who you were in your immediate past life and what you should strive for, now, in this lifetime, for furthering soul growth. For you, I feel this duplicity represents a pattern that has "crossed over" from your immediate past life, indicating a pattern needing more than one lifetime to work out.
Since your Moon's Nodes involve relationships then we need to look at aspects to the love life in your chart. Your Venus receives a strong pull from sexy Pluto, meaning there needs to be excitement, passion, and met desires when in relationship. Conversely, your Moon close to Mars and both in Capricorn, tends towards a certain hardness, a reserved emotional makeup, bordering on a coldness. It's almost as if your Moon is shocked by what your Venus wants.
Unfortunately, Neptune makes a troubling square aspect to your Ascendant/Descendant axis, usually indicative of a traumatic early childhood, most likely involving your mother, but somehow family influenced, which has made you, consciously or unconsciously, afraid and quite wary of an unsafe world. This could manifest today as insecurity, doubt, and/or confusion within relationships, idealization, even deception.
You have a Mercury opposition to Mars aspect, which itself makes an aspect to your Moon's Nodes. This configuration, called a Grand Cross aspect, represents that having too sharp a mouth, rash decision making, and/or being argumentative, are all at cross purposes to advancing your soul growth, another crossover pattern from your immediate past life.
I hope you have a better understanding of your Moon's Nodes and maybe some clarity on relationship issues?
I can see the caring, sweet, sensitive person you are, the loving friend, the flirty social fun girl to be around. Your chart shows me a powerful, confident, successful and independent woman of today, ambitious and career minded, who's working out some relationship issues stemming from what might have been a very painful childhood.
I hope this has helped.
Jeff
Dear Jeff,
Thank you very much for spending time reading my birth chart. Much appreciated.
Yes I had and still have painful relationship with my mother. Grew up with one relative to another. Since my Sun is in Cancer coping with the past is hard.
I'm also in my Saturn Return. Maybe it's also what's making me feel down the last few years. Its transit in Sagittarius will end this year. Until then I'll just have to wait, wish and hope for better days to come.
Thank you once again.
Monica
