Jessica felt a deep calling. Her work as a nurse’s aide was satisfying and paid well enough. Yet she felt there was more. She bought online courses and read books that promised to help her find her purpose in life, but they were geared toward career. With two kids at home, she didn’t want to go back to school for a nursing degree. 

What was that nagging feeling?

“I didn’t think it had anything to do with spirituality,” she said. “When someone introduced me to the HU song something clicked. I realized it had everything to do with spirituality. Singing HU gave me such a sense of peace. The nagging feeling went away. I felt as though I was home.”

Jessica’s spiritual journey began in that moment. 

She reflected how people could easily be misguided in their search for mission and purpose. “They think they have to become something or do something, like write a book, open a business, or start a family. For me, it was nothing like that.”

Jessica didn’t have time to read half the materials she’d purchased. “Yet I always have time to sing HU. I sing it aloud in the car and quietly to myself when I’m cleaning up after a patient. It helps me connect with my spiritual self. It connects me with my spiritual guide.”

The spiritual guide she is referring to is Harold Klemp, the Living ECK Master of a teaching called Eckankar, the Religion of the Light and Sound of God. As a spiritual master, he serves as both an outer master, who gives talks and writes books, and an inner master, who can appear in a student’s dreams and contemplations. Inwardly, he provides spiritual understanding, upliftment, and divine love. Many of his students also report seeing him appear physically, to give protection in dire situations. 

Harold Klemp writes, “The only true mission of Soul: to become a citizen of the spiritual worlds while still in the physical worlds.”

As Jessica experienced for herself, you don’t have to change your life or your job to find and fulfill your mission. Only to make contact with the spirit within. Then bring it forward into your daily life. That’s one of the purposes of having an inner and outer master, like Harold Klemp. You get real inner guidance to direct you on life’s journey, spiritual experiences to prove that God is real, and a sense of inner knowing that brings peace in a troubled world. 

Jessica reports, “Since I joined ECK and began to live a spiritual life, things look brighter to me. I feel better inside. Happier. Best of all, I know I’m on the right track. I am living my spiritual mission just being the mom that I am, and doing the job I have and love to do.”
