Reflexology: This New Year, Let Yourself Shine
by Laura Norman, M.S., LMT,
“If you want to awaken all of humanity, then awaken all of yourself... Truly, the greatest gift you have to give is your own self-transformation.” – Lao Tzu
We can make changes in our lives whenever we choose. Yet the New Year marks a traditional time to make resolutions. It provides an opportunity to reflect on the past year, take stock of our lives now and make plans for a better future.
We may be asking ourselves, “What can I do to lead a more satisfying life? To be happier? Healthier? More successful?” After the year we have just lived through, many of us might also be wondering, “What can I do to make this world a better place?”
There’s a popular Facebook meme that, in part, says:
“I'm going to be holding doors for strangers, letting people cut in front of me in traffic, respecting my elders, saying good morning, being patient with a waiter, and smiling at strangers…Find your own way to swing the pendulum in the direction of love.”
The Abraham Teachings put it this way, “Everything comes to you by the power of your thoughts and words.” We make this world a better place by setting a positive example and by fulfilling our own highest potential. As Marianne Williamson wrote, “As we let our own light shine, we give other people permission to do the same.”
How can you shine brighter? Is there something you’ve always wanted to experience, learn or create? Do you have a passion to be an artist? A speaker? A healer? Now is the time! Take the first step.
If you choose to learn something new, grow as a person, help others feel better and possibly even start a new career, how about taking a course in Reflexology?
Reflexology is a natural healing technique that consists of applying firm, gentle pressure to “reflex points” on the hands, face, ears and (most often) feet—that reflect each organ, gland and part of the body. Reflexology offers a multitude of health benefits including stress reduction, pain relief, improved circulation, cleansing of toxins, a strengthened immune system, increased energy and enhanced focus.
Have a reflexology session with a professional and discover how profoundly pleasurable, relaxing and nurturing reflexology is—an uplifting experience for both giver and receiver. Reflexology can be a very fulfilling career, and is a great addition to an existing health practice. Massage therapists, facial specialists, nurses, physical and occupational therapists, nail techs, acupuncturists, chiropractors and others take classes and add value to their practices. And anyone (no prior knowledge required) can take our classes as a wonderful way to help yourself, family and friends.
Take the opportunity this New Year to focus on the positive, treat everyone with kindness and respect and pursue your passion. The world is a better place when you let you own light shine.
