Guided Meditation Is Meditation (Angel Spirituality)

What is a guided meditation?
Guided meditation is a state of relaxed concentration invoked and led by another party. ... Guided meditation can be as short as a few minutes or as long as several hours. Either way, the purpose is to achieve mental, emotional and physical healing and stress relief. --Gaiam
Both guided meditation and deep relaxation have a number of amazing effects on your body and hormones.Meditation slows down brain wave activity and subdues stress all the while triggering human growth hormones (HGH) . ... Meditation also improves the quality of your sleep as it quells the endless chatter of your mind. -Medium
For many years I have yearned to be someone who practiced meditation on a regular basis. Not only had I read about the many benefits of meditation, but I had seen results with my own eyes. It seemed that everyone I met who meditated regularly seemed much quieter, calmer, and more peaceful than I was, and I really envied and wanted to have that for myself. Everything about meditation made sense to me, and I sensed that if I took on a regular practice, really made a habit of it, it could transform many parts of my life. I wanted what meditation offered, but I wasn't able to do it regularly - or so I had previously thought.
I thought meditation was sitting still and trying to stop as many of my thoughts as possible. I would do that, with or without music, and try to still my thoughts. It didn't feel as if I was being very successful at it, and as a result I could not keep up with my morning and evening ten minute schedule.
I did, however, very much enjoy listening to guided meditations - recordings of a persun's voice (always female for me), speaking spiritual themes and with a soft music in the background. I loved these recordings so much, which Iistened to with my eyes closed and in a comfortable (usually lying down) position, that I listened to them for years, and later recorded and released two of my own.
That was years ago. I didn't know I was meditating then. I didn't know it counted as meditation. I listened to guided meditations as part of my personal growth work. It was part of creative visualization and doing the Abraham-Hicks law of attraction practices. Listening to guided meditations was part of my angel spirituality and soulmate attraction work. I didn't know it was meditation. I wasn't aware I was meditating. It was "too" easy. "Too" enjoyable. Meditation in the classic sense, was sitting uncomfortably, cross legged, or sitting with spine very straight, head up, yoga pose. It involved what felt to me like forcing the body to do something unnatural to it: stop thinking.
But this changed for me recently.
I met someone who enjoys meditating at least twice a day, at least thirty minutes in the morning, and thirty minutes in the evening - with meditation other times in the day usually as well. This was so joyful and satisfying to him that when he talked about it, it made me want to do that, too.
I started with the classic model, but then switched to guided meditation. Once I realized how pleasurable that was, I decided to continue and to not worry about the type of meditation I was doing. It was more important that I was having fun and being still and feeling better every day. Meditating an hour every day this way, and sometimes more, was very joyful because the material I would listen to would get into my consciousness and help me feel better as I went to sleep and as I awoke.
Later, I learned that guided meditations counts as meditation! It's okay to let that be the only form of meditation I do.
So, if you are struggling to create a regular schedule of meditation, don't worry or stress out about the kind of meditation you're doing. Lotus pose still mind method is not for everyone, and it would be unfortunate to miss out on all of the mental, spiritual, and physical/health benefits of using guided meditations.
Here are some of the guided meditations I've listened to recently. May they help you in discovering and using guided meditations that will help heal and bless *your* life!
