Astrological Forecast for May 2008

The big planetary challenges of early 2008 are finally settling into gentle opportunities for change. A helpful planetary pattern called a Grand Earth Trine creates harmonious flow during the early part of May. This big triangle in the sky (if you were to connect the “dots”) brings your plans into tangible manifestation.

Towards the end of May, the communications planet Mercury moves into its re-visioning, retrograde phase to help you re-think the busyness of your life. It is a good idea to tend to travel plans and/or projects that require focused thinking early in the month.

May Day on the 1^st softly sets the tone with sensual and romantic Venus urging you to manifest your desires. Make time for people who make it easy to open your heart. Use caution in overspending or overindulging in sweets.

The tone changes for the first weekend of the month with a ‘hurry up and wait” kind of energy. Boundary setting Saturn ends its 5-month retrograde cycle on the 2^nd, suggesting that you practice patience. At the same time, quick Mercury enters quicker Gemini to remind you that there is a lot to do with little time to do it all. Know that this is a short term crunch, and the weeks ahead help you initiate new business or other serious projects in your life. Sunday is more relaxed than Saturday, so you will get some rest as the weekend ends.

The Cinco de Mayo holiday brings the New Moon in manifesting Taurus. Focus on tangible goals, be they romance or business, in the coming weeks. Begin this cycle May 6-8 by multi-tasking numerous projects. This helps you apply heat to several ‘irons in the fire’ while serving a need to avoid boredom through variety.

The weekend of the 10^th is ripe for a party. Ambitious Mars moves into warm-hearted Leo for the next six weeks. You may remember from previous forecasts that this masculine warrior has been realigning your actions and emotions since November 2007, so it is welcome news that it is time to assert a new way. Put your creative passions into something that is both fun and productive in the weeks ahead. But for this weekend, just go play!

Mother’s Day continues the warm-hearted feelings of the past several days. There are some minor energy bumps, so don’t take restaurant delays too seriously.

Prepare to begin your weekend early on Thursday the 15^th when the moon moves into social Libra. By Sunday the 20^th, romantic Venus is spreading her luscious pleasures in many directions. Romance is favored, but maintaining a budget is difficult.

All of this sensual energy culminates with the full moon on Monday the 19^th. When a full moon is in the final degree of a sign, some aspect of your life needs to come to an end. The Scorpio full moon represents deep emotions, helping you to release old hurts. Let go and move on.

The Sun enters Gemini on the 20^th and the pace quickens. Remember that communications planet Mercury is preparing to turn retrograde on Monday the 26^th, so now is the time to back up your computer, tend to vehicle repairs/transportation issues, or make those calls that need your attention.

On the weekend of the 24^th, just prior to Mercury turning into its ‘stepping back’ period, the moon is in Aquarius urging you to try something new. Romances started under this influence can be a lot of fun, but most of these flirtations will be finished by July.

The month winds down to an end in a playful and sensual way. Exercise or go on a hike that emphasizes beauty rather than physical endurance.

June continues the Mercury retrograde cycle along with gentle planetary energies. Consider sneaking away for a short, quick rendezvous’ at a nearby, but remote, location.
