Excerpt from "Edgar Cayce and the Unfulfilled Destiny of Thomas Jefferson Reborn"
From the Introduction
by Joanne DiMaggio, MA, CHt
“I first heard of #1208—the number assigned to Thomas Jefferson (T.J.) Davis in the [Edgar] Cayce readings—in 1987. I was fascinated by what I read about him, and as any intuitive reporter looking for a good story, I felt compelled to interview him for a possible feature article. I knew very little about him at this early juncture, but what little I knew—that when he was two days old, Edgar Cayce gave him a Life Reading and in it said he was the reincarnation of Alexander the Great and Thomas Jefferson—was enough to pique my curiosity about how his life had turned out. What was it like to have had such an auspicious life reading as a baby? It had to have impacted him in a major way, and I wondered whether that information made his life easier, or whether the burden of such knowledge made it a living hell.”
“[In writing this book] I have chosen to focus on what I believe to be the undeniable truth of his life: a seasoned soul chosen for a greater purpose, the struggle and beautiful synchronicity of his journey to earth to be with a most beloved mentor, his years of being the vessel into which that mentor poured the wisdom of humanity, and the free will’s series of twists and turns that created the obstacles to that purpose for which he felt powerless to overcome. It is a classic case of karma in action—of synchronistic events that make one cringe to think how close and yet how far he was from achieving the destiny Edgar Cayce foresaw for his young charge. It is a sad story that is, nonetheless, filled with hope, for you will see after reading about his journey, that there is always time to fulfill that destiny. . . . I leave it to you to come to your own conclusion about the fate of the baby that Edgar Cayce so loved and predicted could be the world’s redemption—if only. Whether or not you can identify with the conflicts this family experienced, there is no denying that T.J. was Edgar Cayce’s “precious boy.”
