Dear Jennifer,

First it’s wonderful your father appears in your dreams and that you acknowledge his presence. The feeling of being touched by his soul energy is called clairsentience (and I’m sure that was your dad). Clairsentience means clear or direct feeling. You are probably an empath – the type of individual who derives information from energy vibrations and your own feelings. Some people are clairvoyant (clear seeing), which I am, being an artist and spiritual counselor. I see the spirit realms, not just in dreams, but when doing my consultations while fully awake. Others derive information from hearing voices or sounds, and this is called clairaudience. The spirit realms can also formulate scents or smells like smoke, perfume, flowers, etc. For years I didn’t dream of my dad after he passed, but knew he was around because he formulated the smell of cherry pipe tobacco smoke! These are olfactory occurrences and are quite difficult for the departed ones to create, so it takes a lot of energy on their part.

Keep a notebook and pen by your bed, and write down any messages in dreams that you have of your dad. Notice the date of his appearances. Some souls who love us will draw their energy down around us on a special occasion, like our birthday. When we are experiencing trials or changes in our lives they may also appear. Love is energy which cannot be destroyed, and their love for you will keep them close. Each soul has an agenda in the next dimension for soul progression, and many are off on other endeavors, so of course they’re not with us 24/7.

Please do not feel guilty about not being present when your father passed. Some souls do not want to put their family members through any kind of trauma, and therefore choose to pass on while the family is not present. Everything is meant to be. There is no animosity or negative feelings in the light of the other side, so just know your dad loves you and always will. Feel blessed that he communicates and know some day your paths will cross again.

It’s interesting that your dad showed you his house in the next dimension. Over there we can create anything we want — our own heavens, so to speak – with our thought forms. I personally had to check with an angel I work with called the "dream interpreter" for your answer. I received that "home and hearth" is very important to you, meaning you are a nurturing and giving person that genuinely loves people and your family. The home is symbolic of the inner sanctum of the heart, and your own joy which resides there. It’s great that happy feelings stay with you after these dreams.

The people who you do not know are probably spirit guides who are mentoring you in the astral world. Your soul mission is to work with people who have wounded spirits, to help them through loss or abandonment issues. You would be good doing social work for the less fortunate, or volunteering for Habitat for Humanity. But on your daily walk through life, it’s easy for you to touch others with your smile and caring nature.

Write down your dreams upon awakening and you’ll see a pattern emerge which will give you greater clarity. Keep the good feelings going and remember (whatever you do in life) when you feel them, you’re on the right track!
